Books Bars and Guitars, a music and literary series sponsored by Parnassus Books and The Porch, present Hari Kunzru reading excerpts from his new novel White Tears, with special musical guest Patrick Sweany at The Basement on March 30th at 7:30 PM. White Tears has been hailed by critics as a “well-turned and innovative tale that cannily connects old-time blues and modern-day minstrelsy” and “a compulsively readable ghost story that features masterly—tour de force—writing about early American blues.”
Kunzru will be joined onstage by Nashville-based musician Patrick Sweany who gained a reputation for his “intricate country blues style: part Piedmont picking, part Delta slide - with an equally impressive deep, smooth vocal style.” Sweany has 6 critically acclaimed albums (two produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys) and tours all over the United States and Europe. This event is free and open to the public. The Basement, March 30th, 7:30 PM.
